The next stage in these proceedings is a trial in the Senate, which will most likely result in an acquittal. There simply aren’t enough senators who would contribute to the two thirds vote required for a conviction. In an era when criminal allegations in the political arena have little or nothing to do with factual evidence, we see the deep resentment between party lines widen the fracture that divides our country...
